Sleeping late no longer works as well as it once did. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that the cats have figured out how to get into my loft, where I have my bed, some boxes of books, and several very crinkly plastic and paper bags.

And that they have no qualms at all about walking all over me when I try to sleep.

Oh well.

*winces*

Yep. The joy of being owned by a cat. Everything in your house, including you, is a toy to be played with whenever the hell they feel like it.

I've done the crinkly-thing with mine, but what really annoyed me was when they used to get up and start very slowly and deliberately knocking books off the bookshelf next to my bed until I finally got up and fed them. Behavior I hated to reward, but they finally trained me to check the food BEFORE I went to bed.

And when someone said something about how "Well, *I*'d just toss 'em across the room!" my response was, "Do you have any IDEA how hard it is to just grab and toss thirteen-point-five pounds of cat? Just getting a GRIP takes both hands, when you're lying down..."

Good luck with the kitties!

mine actually got to the point that they could hear me TOUCH the supersoaker and be across the room doing something innocent by the time I got it into firing position. Unfortunately I didnt' want to supersoak my bookshelf... le sigh.

Our cats get fed once a day, in the afternoon, not by me. At about 4:30 AM Boo comes to get me up. 4:30 is bearable but somedays its 3:30. I think he just gets bored. On the other hand he is usually quite precise so it may be that he just feels it's his bounden duty to play alarm clock.

We have a child-gate at the top of the stairs. When we first got it, shortly after we moved into this townhouse, we didn't put up the hinges, just rested it on the nearby wainscotting. One night, Phantom came up the stairs, nudged it, and got chased down the stairs. (There are still small drip-stains from where he lost bladder control.) He doesn't go that far up the upward stairs anymore, say true.
