Writing goals for the next seven days:

1. Half an hour's work on anything to do with my hard SF book
2. Half an hour's work on something of the Silver Corporal's story or backstory
3. Outline and first run-through of the second half of "Englishman In New York- No, Wait"
4. Revise first half while watching Ghostbusters again; first half okay, but too heavy on dialogue, not enough background details to anchor, & anyway sounds too much like Lorenzo Music, not enough like Bill Murray

That's... probably enough for now, no matter how ambitious I wanna get.

Hey, at least he doesn't sound at all like the post-Lorenzo "Venkman Who Must Not Be Named."

Don't scrap too much of that dialogue, 'sall I'm sayin'.

Oh, I wasn't planning to. It's just that to do Bill Murray proper justice, you have to pin his timing down, and that includes background stuff going on, gestures, things like that. Dialogue's fine but he needs posing to sound right.

I can't believe you're going to re-write it - I like the half-chapter. Well, I guess I'm not really that good at telling if something sounds more like Bill Murray or whoever that other guy is.

It just needs a little poking, that's all. I wrote all of this stuff on the train back and forth to my parents' place- it needs filling in in places. It'll help. And i"ll let you beta the new stuff, so.
