"I've bought me a BIKE."
$549 for the bike, $40 for s/h from Massachusetts, and because I ordered a commuter model during Bike to Work month, I'm getting fenders and a rear carrier thrown in for free. I foresee many screwdrivers in my future, yes. Also a trip to the credit union to get the $600 out before I write out my rent check, but that's not a problem. The credit union savings account would have been used to pay for a down payment on a car, so this is the same vein and a whole lot cheaper.
*does dance of geekish joy*
And before you ask- yes, I have a helmet. Now I just need a stepladder and a hook and possibly a drill.
