Well, I can't guarantee that that was Michael Palin singing, but someone was very merrily singing "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay, I sleep all night and I work all day!" in a way that the usual canned voices don't manage.

Longtime Zipcar user in Boston. It's a fantastic service for city dwellers who can get around via public transportation most of the time, but sometimes need a car to run errands or make longer trips. While I was living in the city, I scrapped my car completely in favor of Zipcar and public transport and was very happy.

Of course, when I moved to the sticks I had to buy a car immediately, but still.

Given that I live in Jersey City, work in Manhattan, and most often have to deal with cars for short trips to knitting group or my parents' house- and that I can reach my parents by train with a little planning, and that even when I have a car I still have to plan my time of leaving my parents 'cos of having to spend HALF AN HOUR OR MORE finding parking... yeah. I think I'm the target audience here.

We've got them in Boston, which I think someone else mentioned. I've never used them myself, but I hear they're just great.

Yeah, I saw that on their page. I've applied with them and called my insurance company to ask about further details- seems they can't insure me on a rental, not even against general liability, so basically if ZipCar accepts me (and I see no reason why they shouldn't), I'm going to donate my old Saturn to the Red Cross and turn in the plates and cancel my car insurance by the 29th.

... that reminds me, I need to look into renter's insurance.

If the Zipcar there is anything like the Zipcar here in Boston, you should be forewarned that you will be driving mostly vehicles no one would buy due to incredible and bizarre ugliness.
