Fed taxes: filed, paid.
NJ taxes: filed, paid.
NY taxes: not yet filed but at least done, ruddy stupid printer can't be found and e-file not available unless I use the psycho hose beast program that says I'm due five thousand dollars.

Rah me.

Yep. Tax to the feds, then tax to the state or states in which we live and earn our money. Since I earned income in two states last year I have to file two sets of state taxes. I'll have to file state taxes in both states next year as well, but it'll be simpler because all my income will be earned in one state; the state of my residence gives a certain measure of credit for taxes paid to another state, but it's based on the percentage of your income involved.

due $5000 dollars? wow. would be nice if it was true, but when it's not it's a pain.

But yay for getting them done ... and yay for e-file working for at least two. Must say it's my first year trying that e-file thing and it is ... wow. such an easier process.

Even if I sat in paranoia that I did something wrong for at least 2 hours *G*

I'm dead positive i did something wrong on my state taxes; there is no way we can be getting back the money I think we're getting. But I did them in good faith, so the worst'll happen is I'll get a "rudeletter" pointing out the mistake.

Either that, or we are getting a return this year.
