Now.
I have FOUND AN APARTMENT.
It is in Jersey City. It is, yes, the one on Wayne Street, between Jersey and Barrow. If I were both Chinese and superstitious I probably would not take it, there being a few too many fours involved in its location, but I am not and so that is not my concern. It is a lovely studio apartment with about 500 square feet of floorspace, but the kitchen and bathroom are under a loft which is big enough for me to put my platform bed on and still have vertical space- and enough horizontal space for several small bookshelves and maybe a futon or two for guests. The living space below can hold, mmm, a couch, a dining table and chairs, and some bookcases and maybe a desk and tv, not really sure. The kitchen is teeny but normal-sized stove goes far in my book. There is a fridge. There is a dishwasher. The bathroom is sized for me and not for a hobbit so that's good too.
I have to pass the credit check and the background check but I don't think that'll be a problem. I have called the landlady of apartment #1 from the other day's post and told her I can't take her place, and she understood, but asked if I could help her rewrite her craigslist.org ad since I was the only one to come look at the place seriously. I agreed- her ad was really quite short- and we will see if that helps her out any.
