Dammit. The UK doesn't accept international money orders according to the USPS web page. And I'm not sending cash.

Any of my UK friends out there willing to accept Paypal from me in order to pass it on to the Bhopal appeal?

D'you mean that the folks running the Bhopal appeal do not? That seems more likely. Even so, there are still ways around it. I'd suggest writing to them and explaining that you'd LIKE to send money but you don't seem to live in a country which views the Pound as its currency of choice, and where should you send your money in that case? It's possible that you would wind up being pointed at a WHO-run organization, f'rinstance, which cuts a portion of its fundraising out for the bhopal.org folks. Less than targeted- but better than nothing?

I mean that when I went to www.usps.com, they didn't list England or the UK as a country that accepted their international money orders. Where were yours sent from?

Turns out it's not the UK but the USPS that's to blame. The people at the BIG GIANT FRIGGIN' WE COULD HOUSE ELEPHANTS IN HERE post office in Manhattan told me that they didn't have any money orders for the UK, and that if I wanted to send $$ I should go to a bank and get an MO there.

I am very unimpressed that the big PO in Manhattan didn't have such things handy, and am very very unimpressed that nobody said 'well, can you pay in euros?'- since euros are a legally accepted tender, in Britain. ;)

If you can't find a way to convert Colonial scrip into good hard sterling, let me know and I am sure my paypal account can be put to good use.

I got to the PO. They can't do it. They said to go to a bank to get said money order, but my bank doesn't have branches in Manhattan, just machines. I'd like to give 15 pounds- that's about $30 at the current exchange rate.

How d'you want to arrange this? Paypal is a wonderful thing.

The web site says 'In the UK or Europe'; I had assumed that meant there was some kind of difficulty with direct donations from the States.
