Mm. I suppose that just might work, but it's on the order of how you never see 'The deceased, while cleaning his gun, learned he had just won the lottery'. Really not likely.
I don't remember where I put my last list. I'll have to compile a new one.
Wow, what a thing to learn from your mom on her deathbed.
"And Jimmy, take care of the cat; she'll be lonely. Oh, don't cry, Susan. You have to be strong for your brother. By the way, I killed your dad and stuffed him in a freezer."
What really gets me, on my second reading, is that the killing happened in California. The woman apparently killed her husband, stuffed him in the freezer, and shipped the freezer all the way to Massachusetts when she moved.
Er? Excuse me? Isn't it more traditional to dispose of the evidence?? I mean, yeah, leaving the corpse behind in the same state where they still have a missing persons case open isn't such a hot idea, but she shipped the damn thing three thousand miles and kept it in the same state as her! Couldn't she have, I dunno, disposed of it somewhere in upstate New York or something?
"Remember, sweetie, keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and the evidence where you can check on it and make sure the cops haven't been sniffing at it in your absence."
The truly strange thing? This might not be the first time; I've read a very similar story before.
I mean, it could be the same story reported different places, but that report seemed to indicate that this event had just happened... and I know that the last time I heard about an event like this was at the very least a few months ago, and I think at least a year ago.
Note that when I say "like this", I mean almost exactly like this - the states in question may not have been CA and MA, and I'm not sure if there was a deathbed confession involved, but everything else matches what I remember quite well.
