Non-spoiler but I'll lj cut it anyway.

Mr. Incredible has blond hair. Elasti-Girl has red hair. Dash has blond hair, Jak-Jak seems to have red hair in the making.

Where the hell did Violet get black hair from? Is it a case of 'my hair changed colour when my power manifested', is she dyeing it, or did Elasti-Girl do something naughty fifteen years ago? Or was the kid just prenatally exposed to gamma radiation and mutated or something, which (given the nature of this universe) seems more likely than an affair?

Have yet to see the Incredibles, but I'd imagine she dyes it.

Well, I'd lean towards the dyed explanation, given that this is a teenage girl, with low self-esteem, just a millimeter away from goth.

That was my basic reaction too - and I did have the same mental question when they were all sitting around the dinner table. :)

Her eyebrows and eyelashes are black, too, though. And she's not wearing any visible makeup, which makes me lean away from 'mascara'.

I think it's ElfQuest genetics at work here -- IE, 'whatever looks cool'.

Looked purple to me...of course, whatever caused the kids to have superpowers that don't even resemble those of their parents could just as easily have caused naturally purple (violet?) hair.

With a name like Violet, purple isn't all that surprising. I thought it was more black anyway.

It's a cartoon. Kids often end up with hair color totally opposite any possible hair colors their parents might carry genes for.

That being said, I think it's dyed. Look at it! It's all frizzy and matted! That is not the result of using straight shampoo. Perhaps it's more a sign of not using any shampoo at all, but I doubt Mrs. Parr would let her children get away with that.

Hee. Love the icon. Made me laugh. :)

Happy to oblige. I'd provide you a link to the story if I could find it; it's from a story entitled Draco Malfoy, Savior of the Universe?! and the context is even funnier.

Personally, I favor this one, but that's because I'm a member of [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily and we get off on such things.

No way, dude, she had great hair. Did you see the way it just flowed? She could be in a Pantene commercial!

When your voice is done by Sarah Vowell, you can have whatever color hair you want.

Hmmm. Anime laws of genetics perhaps? Where a blonde mom and a black-haired dad can have a pink-haired kid? *coughchibiusacough*
