WOO HOO!

The amount of bizarroness of the Red Sox combined with the collective hatred of the rest of Major League Baseball overcame it :D

Boy, I know how that is. Family members who are life long Cub's fans swore they were all going to sell off their stocks and move to the Bahamas to ride out the End of Days that would have to come via a Cubs Vs Sox Game 7.

Hee. Yes, my husband made comments once the Cubs knocked themselves out this year that he had been getting worried.

He saw more ways for the world to plausibly end this October than last.

I forsee the need for great complex fanwanking on the subject.

Ok, it's not a need, it's just a wish-to-be-amused, but hey.

While I would have liked to have had the Cubs make it too, may I just say, as a long suffering Sox fan, ROCK THE FUCK ON!!!

Uh, the curse on the Sox just says they don't win the world series ever. They've gotten this far several times since they traded Babe Ruth.

The Cubs are the ones who can't ever make it to the series.

Yes, they were. I find that I am able to handle George Steinbrenner's pain fairly easily, though. As a Cardinals fan, I recall with fondness the time we pasted the Sox back in 1967, but if the Astros win the pennant, I'll call it a good show--after all, this is their first chance ever. Although for Boston, having to face Clemens again--that would be irritating, to say the least.

Wait until the Sox lose the series 4-0. The curse just needs a moment before it can perpetuate itself ad infinitum.

Cartoon-wise....

Ray is the Mets fan. In one episode, he is upset that he and the others are about to die because he just got Mets season tickets and was going to be their best season yet.

For purposes of plot, Winston was made the fan of a fictional team named the Jaguars, a team that was awful and had no fan base at all. This was all prelude to a baseball game between the forces of Heaven and Hell for the fate of one soul.

That said, I think that Ray is naturally a Mets fan, and that Winston probably is as well. Peter would have to a Yankee fan to match his bravado. And Egon wouldn't care one way or the other.

*chuckles* It was the collective "No way, not gonna happen" coming from both sides of the fence that put the fix in. I'm just glad Colin and Christie didn't win the Amazing Race, too.

From Jeanne Hedge, on the Drunkard's Walk forum:

My doctor is a transplanted New Englander. He swears the curse has been lifted already, by one particular event. I'm not sure whether this supposedly took place earlier in the playoffs or during the regular season, but a Boston player supposedly hit a home run that hit some kid (Yankee fan) in the face. The kid who was hit currently lives in a house that Babe Ruth did.

So, says my doctor, because a BoSox player hit a home run that struck a Yankee fan, who lives in Babe Ruth's old house, in the face, the Curse of the Bambino has been broken.

Sure seems to have worked so far...

Jeanne

The Daily Show did one of their "stories" on that kid. Then Rob Corrdry got drunk in a Boston pub with Red Sox fans.
