Don't worry, it's not going to devour my brain and my time. Well, maybe my time, but not as much as it would someone else's- I've never played Sims 1, so it's got to get past my frustration levels at trying to figure everything out first. That, and I'm using it to kick myself back into Cranky British Person mode... see, I spent three weeks in Florida with a book of Mountie pulp stories and all three Sergeant Preston cd's. It's really, really hard to think like John Constantine when that stuff's taking up most of the space in your head.

Last night I went to see Shaun of the Dead. Given that there was a nationwide (possibly worldwide) plague of undead and a bunch of British people with problems getting their arses in gear, it seemed like the right movie to start nosing me back towards Hellblazer: Hogwarts. I wasn't up for writing when I got home, but I was up for fooling with the Body Shop utility that came with Sims 2. I put together what I think is a reasonable facsimile of an adult John- except that the game only comes with one trenchcoat outfit, and it's black and has stompy boots involved. Oh, well. There were a few 1980's issues where John wore a black trench and looked like he was trying to pass for a John Woo character. I'll just have to figure out how to edit these files, as my photo-editing program doesn't seem to want to open them...

Anyway, I have cleaning up to do today RL and some errands to run for my mum, who's ill. Once I've done that I'll work on H:H, and then I get to putz around with Sims 2. Sound fair?

To edit the files, you have to 'export' one of the existing outfits (when you tell it to make a new outfit), and then they should come out as bmps. I've played with them with GIMP, although my editing abilities suck, but it's not too hard to, say, change the colours of things.

There's also about three billion sites already up offering free outfits for download. :P

You could always do what I do, and do a 'search' for files like the black trench file and then see where those are. Alternatively, you could poke around in the Sims directory until you find files that sound like clothes.

It seems like every comic-book character in the western world had at least a couple of issues back in the eighties where they dressed all in black.

Except (most of) the X-Men, who left it until the twenty-first century.
