(Og not have many nice thought for BTI, who make Og white bird arra... ar... who do ticket thing for Og. Og get to counter at place of white bird, lady tell Og, 'Og, your ticket ready, but it say you no pay yet'. So Og call BTI. Og tell BTI that BTI tell Og TWO HOUR AGO that ticket gonna be ready in TWO MINUTE.

BTI put Og on hold. Og drink water come from Frozen North (it say 'SOURCE: GREY COUNTY, ONTARIO' on bottle if Og remember right). Og get Magic Frozen North Power to stand and be patient and only go 'eh' when Og really want hit someone over head with hockey club.

BTI come back. 'Og, your ticket ready. BTI sorry.' Og still have Magic Frozen North Power, so Og say, 'that okay, Og understand'. Og then go give bag to TSA man.

derien, Og think you need talk to TSA boss. This THIRD TIME Og get on plane with jackknife in Og bag. And this time Og got SPECIAL search, with beep-beep stick and lady check all Og pocket and man go through Og bag. This knife as long as Og middle finger! Made of stainless steel!

Anyway, Og make it home okay. Og finish read cowboy book. Og read scary white-hair-silver-eye-Frozen North Law Man stories more so Og get scary white-hair-silver-eye-Frozen North Law Man right next time Og write about him. Og do knitting. Og read of Hudson Bay Company, Northwest Company men marry Indian women and what happen to children. Og get lousy sandwich. Og listen Sergeant Preston story- two, three, maybe four? Not remember.

And Og get big heavy bag back okay, even little hot candy of death that Og pack in special box, and Og now home.

Yay.

The hot candy of death is Atomic Fireballs, a type of jawbreaker with quite a lot of cinnamon to it. I grew fond of them after encountering them for the first time in Preston County, West Virginia. I've seen them for sale in some chain stores in the Northeast, but I bought a whole jar of them at Cracker Barrel in Florida on this trip. I had to put them in a plastic container, though. The airlines don't like you packing things in glass (especially not when you marked them with a biohazard sticker at the job site).

And I'm just glad I got to help. These disaster missions are a big part of why I'm glad to work for the Red Cross even though it doesn't pay enough to get me out of my parents' house. It's good to know that what I'm doing is important to people who're in a bad way, you know?

The local convenience store sells them for... well, probably a quarter now, but they used to be a dime when I was a kid. They kick *much* ass, even if you will think you're sucking on a live coal the first time you have one in a while. The truly weak or unaccustomed can whack them with a hammer to split through the cinnamon-heavy outer layer to the more gentle core. Camwyn, did you get the thumnail size ones or did you manage to score the bigger (whole first joint of the thumb) ones?

I... don't know? The one I have here is big enough that it won't fit through a ring I wear on the middle finger of my right hand. Bigger than my thumbnail, but not the size of the first joint.

Well, finger sizes differ, but that sounds like the big ones - and my hands have probably grown more than I think since I made the comparison. I'm so jealous of you right now... all I have on hand are boring old caramel cubes. If I ever actually went to the downtown store anymore I might remember to get some, but generally I go for a big grocery run every two or three weeks at Hannaford's because it's as cheap as any other big place, and they carry some stuff (peanut oil, pesto sauce, and a certain brand of pizza sauce made in Vermont) that I haven't found anywhere else reasonably local.

(Where local is 'within 20 miles or so,' defined as the average between the nearest pizza parlour and the nearest chinese take-out. Ayup, I live the the back of beyond in New Hampshire... from my house, you can see a river cutting the backyard in half, a footbridge to the 'very back yard' on the other side, a barely two-lane paved road with a state highway number but no name, a house down the road a bit, and many, many trees. 'Traffic' means you met a car coming the other way, and we don't have bird feeders anymore because the bears knocked them down...)
