Doing okay today. Right now we're looking at a lot of long-term disaster relief and a certain amount of AIEEEEE WATER FROM THE SKY! WATER FROM THE SKY! AIEEEE!, because the rivers are cresting and there's nowhere else to put the damn stuff. I'm probably going to be driving trucks today and doing paperwork and phone calls. It's needed, and once the St. John's river floods, they'll tap me regardless.

Found the county library last night. Also a magic store, and an area where there were no fewer than five pawn shops in a row, and a USED BOOK STORE! HUZZAH! I'll be dropping by there at lunch if I get the chance. I tried yesterday, but despite the neon signs saying OPEN in the front window, the door was locked. Meh.

We no longer have operational kitchens. We're serving MREs and such fruit and snack food as we can get our hands on. I'm not sure how long that'll continue but I'll update you when I know. I may be out driving a Big Fecking Truck today at some point.

No, they're screeching because the rivers are full and the canals are full and there is MORE water coming from the sky. Ivan's not here, but his edges are coming our way.

Oh lovely. Hopefully Ivan will take a sudden turn for the silly and vanish off the map inexplicably, leaving nice peaceful weather where it had stood.

Even in a Great Big Truck, be careful about driving in water running over the road--you've had the class, and the lectures, right? It would be sooooo embarrassing for the Red Cross person to need rescuing by other emergency personnel.

Good luck getting into the bookstore, and congratulations on only getting rain from Ivan--it could really and truly be worse.

My sister Martha (one of the aunts midnightlurker hasn't met) lives only about a mile from the river, on the northwest side of DeLand ... sure hope it doesn't flood.

Thank you, hon. I personally think it's God's way of saying 'there's more where that came from if you fuck up the next election', but we'll see what happens.
