Soundtrack.

My head-over-heels in love song is... "Every Little Thing", The Police.
…and ask (him) if (he'll) marry me / in some old fashioned way / but my silent fears have gripped me / and before I reach the phone / like before my tongue has tripped me…

My breakup song is... Ooog. Not something I did often enough to develop a song for.

My broken heart song is... Peace on Earth, U2.
They're reading names out / On the radio / All the folks the rest of us / Won't get to know / Sean and Julia / Gareth, Ann and Rita / Their lives are bigger now than / Any big idea…
(I served at Ground Zero for two days. That was more heartbreaking than any relationship has any right to be.)

My s/he's a bastard song is... Dreaming While You Sleep, Genesis.
I can never understand what went thru my mind / I didn't stop to see what I had done / Had to keep on driving deep into the night / the miles between would somehow put it right…

My go to hell song is... How You Remind Me, Nickelback.
This is how you remind me / of what I really am / It's not like you to say sorry / I was waiting on a different story / This time I'm mistaken / For handing you a heart worth breaking…

My standing strong song is... I Will Survive, Gloria Gaynor.
I should have changed that stupid lock / I should have made you leave your key / If I'd have known for just one second you'd be back to bother me… (Not related to a relationship, actually, but to a truly horrific final in Ancient Greek.)

My recovered song is... Break My Stride, Matthew Wilder.
Never gonna let another guy like you / Work me over / Never gonna let another guy like you / Drag me under / If I meet another guy like you / I will tell him / Never want another guy like you…

My getting on with life song is... Tubthumping, Chumbawumba.
I GET KNOCKED DOWN / BUT I GET UP AGAIN / YOU'RE NOT EVER GOING TO KEEP ME DOWN…

My relapse song is... "Roll to Me", I forget who it's by.
So look around your world, pretty baby / is it everything you hoped it'd be / the wrong guy, the wrong situation…

My fond memories song is... New York State of Mind, Billy Joel.
Don't care if it's Chinatown or up on Riverside / I don't have any reasons, I left them all behind / I'm in a New York state of mind…

My one night stand song is... Never had a one-night stand. Never developed a song for same. Sorry.

My best friend song is... 500 Miles / I'm Gonna Be, The Proclaimers.
… and I would walk five hundred miles / and I would walk five hundred more / just to be the one who walked a thousand / miles to fall down at your door…

My all friends song is… You Got A Friend, as performed by Vincent Price on the Muppet Show, for all the creepy-looking Muppets.
hey, ain't it good to know that you got a friend / when people can be so cold / they'll hurt you / and desert you / and take your soul if you let them / yeah, but don't you let them…

My disowned family song is... In The End, Linkin Park.
Things aren't the way they were before / You wouldn't even recognize me anymore / Not that you knew me back then / But it all comes back to me / In the end / You kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart…

My get drunk song is... er. Being as how I have never been drunk… Johnny Jump Up, the Woods Tea Company.
O never, no never, no never again / If I live to be a hundred or a hundred and ten / I fell to the ground and I couldn't get up / After drinkin' a quart of the Johnny Jump Up…

My dance your ass off song is... Anything reasonably fast-paced and with non-stupid lyrics. I don't dance much, so I'm not fussy about the tunage, just as long as the lyrics aren't as unutterably stupid as most 'dance music' lyrics.

My sing your heart out song is... St. Elmo's Fire / Man in Motion, John Parr.
I can make it / I know I can / You broke the boy in me / but you won't break the man / I can see a new horizon / Underneath the blazing sky…

My proud of my country song is... America, Ray Charles.
O beautiful, for heroes proved / In liberatin' strife / Who more than self / Their country loved / An' mercy more than life…

My ashamed of my country song is... Michigan Militia, Moxy Fruvous
What is the problem? / I'm fighting for you and a blue-eyed Jesus / America first - the rest get the pieces!

My claw my own ears out song is... Wildfire, Michael Murphy. Ain't gonna put the lyrics up here. It's the one about the pony and the 'killing frost'. (Which refers to the frost's effect on PLANTS, not people or animals, but that never stopped the singer.)

My good tune, bad lyrics song is... The Brazilian, by Genesis. Which is really not fair on my part. The Brazilian is more of a 'good tune, no lyrics' song, but there you go.

My 'you know it's the holidays' song is... Little Drummer Boy, David Bowie and Bing Crosby.
Peace on earth (come, they told me) / Can it be (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) / Years from now (our newborn king to see) / Perhaps we'll see (pa-rum-pa-pum pum) / See the day (our finest gifts we bring) / Of glory / See the day (to lay before our king) / When men / Of good will / Live in peace / Live in peace again…

My relaxing after work song is... Major Tom, Peter Schilling.
Earth below us / Drifting, falling / Floating weightless / Coming home / Earth below us / Drifting, falling / Floating weightless / Coming home / Earth below us / Drifting, falling / Floating weightless / Coming, coming home…

My spring cleaning song is... Theme from Rocky XIII, Weird Al.
It's the rye or the kaiser, it's the thrill of one bite / Let me please be your catering advisor / If you want substitutions I won't put up a fight / You can have your roast beef on the rye / Or the kaiser
(It takes a lot to make me happy about cleaning.)

My summer in the sun song is... Come On Eileen, Dexy's Midnight Runners. Not for the lyrics, but for the pace - it's on the CD I listen to when I'm rollerblading.

My working on what I love song is... Book of Days, Enya.
One / Day, one night, one moment / With a dream to / Believe in…

My working for my supper song is.. Welcome to the Occupation, REM.
Welcome to the Occupation / Here we stand and here we fight / All your fallen heroes / Held and tied and skinned alive…

My visualize world peace song is... Er. See above, under 'you know it's the holidays'.

My falling asleep song is... Jenny-Lynne, the Woods Tea Company.
And someday I may find a port where all the lights are warm / Or maybe I'll be drowned in a North Atlantic storm / I'd best believe in Heaven, but when it comes my time / There's another harbor farther down the line…
