Something has just occurred to me.
Aug. 2nd, 2004 06:12 pmWhat with the specificity of the targets named in the most recent terror alert, it has just occurred to me that I should probably make something clear. Namely:
I work in Essex County, New Jersey.
I work for the Red Cross chapter with the responsibility of responding to disasters in Newark, among many other cities.
If anything happens at Prudential despite the precautions, or at any other companies in Newark, I'm probably going to be on the first truck out there- or I'm going to be getting the Disaster Operations Center (DOC) in our building up and running. Same for NYC targets, except that it'll take a little longer to get there because we'll need permission from Greater NY Chapter first.
That is not what I was thinking I should say. What I did need to say was this:
If anything happens at Prudential, or at the New York targets, or at any other targets in Manhattan or Newark- or, hell, even Jersey City- do not attempt to phone me to find out how I am. The last time we had a huge-ass disaster, the phone exchanges were too swamped to respond. Email me. Post on LJ for me. Try looking on ICQ- I have it installed at work in case I need to communicate in an emergency. But phoning? Not so good an idea.
That's all.
