I've submitted the most recent Hellblazer: Hogwarts entry to Fiction Alley, where all my other HP fics are. I'm considering punting part one of Who Ya Gonna Owl? their way, too; I'll be working on part two tomorrow.

Something has just occurred to me about that fic, though. nesmith, I thought of you almost instantly when the thought ran through my head. I was doing some research at the Lexicon, and I ran across this:

Durmstrang Institute
headmaster: Igor Karkaroff
location: a castle in northern Europe, so far north that the days are very short in winter
uniforms: furs, blood-red robes

I sent Egon there. As a kid-to-teenager, true, but... that's a nice uniform they've got.

Wonder if they ever do reunions.

Now, see, when I was reading that, and putting it together with your fics, I had an entirely different reaction.

Namely, I realized that the annual visitor in Arctic Fires must be a Durmstrang graduate -- he still has the same fashion sense, after all.

Nah. They patterned the uniforms after his look, see. It's the only way a school with their reputation even comes close to being on the right list in his books.

Nah, Ray went to school in the States. Egon's parents figured they had a budding genius on their hands, the latest in a long family line, and even though he didn't think much of the irrationality (even at that age) of magic, they felt he had better get a Proper Education in it.

"You'll have full access to the library at Hogwarts, of course," said Arthur. "Er- is something wrong, Dr. Stantz?"
Ray shook his head. "Hogwarts," he said in a tone half-nostalgic, half-uneasy. "I spent seven of the most uncomfortable years of my life there."
"Really? Too far from home, was it?"
"Not exactly." Ray passed a hand over his face. "If that were the only problem with the school, I could've handled it. No, the problem was the students."
"What house were you in?"
"Hufflepuff, but that's not important. I was the only American-"
"Ah," said Arthur, nodding deeply. "Culture shock, then."
"No, not that either. It was the part where I kept getting cornered in the corridors by gangs of other students that was the problem. They kept calling me an 'American transfer student Gary Stu' and threatening to feed me to the giant squid..."

I don't think it would have been that bad.

I dunno. I guess it just seems to me one of the Boys would have known the Maruders. Not closely perhaps, but close enough to be affected by James and Lilly's Deaths.

I'm kind of coming around to the idea of Ray and Egon being wizards. At least it would explain Real Ghostbusters Egon's hair. A physicist should not defy the laws of physics like that.
