That's not my usage. The Japanese were the ones who created Hellsing, and they were also the ones who created a main character that insisted on using 'Sir' instead of 'Dame' for her title, despite being female. I don't know enough about the manga to say why or how this came about; I don't intend to base any assumptions on the anime, either, since I'm told the ending was rather whacko compared to the comic.
