Was talking with a friend of mine about the Diary of a Mountie, and about the League game, and I found out that I had forgotten to mention something re: the other players.

My friend was unaware of batyatoon and sdelmonte being Orthodox Jews. "... Orthodox gamers?!?" was his exact reaction - he even specified italic, bold-faced, and multiple question marks. He then started laughing hysterically and eventually got coherent enough to say that, with the group as I described it, we'd probably make the funkiest Ars Magica group evar.

He went back to the hysterical giggles when I told him to reread the Diary and keep in mind that every single time Preston talked to The Shadow, I was addressing a guy in a yarlmuke.

Dude, I'm up for Ars Magica (which I just typed as Arms Magica) if you are. The only time I've ever tried before, we got into a huge fight while we were building the covenant thingie and never actually got to play.

I've never actually played Ars M, myself. I have the book, I've made up a few characters, I even own a few of the supplements, but I've never played. Which is a damn shame 'cos it was a fine book and looked like it'd be a fine game.

Lord, it's been a while sine I had a tabletop game. I'd love it if we could arrange some kind of gaming session soon.

Oh no. You go to Oz. I'm such a sucker for Oz. Now I'm going to have to read this story. But I went back trying to find the first entry, and the first one I can find is titled "Day Eleven." Where should I start?

You start here. I originally wrote this stuff up in my own LJ, but found it was easier to avoid spamming friendslist people by getting the Sergeant his own LJ. I did, however, take the precaution of marking all the existing Diary posts in my Memories section, along with a few things the other players posted about their characters' perspective on the game (that's under a separate heading, though).

You may notice a change in tone, or at least in vocabulary, between the stuff in my journal and the stuff under sgt_preston. That's because the part in my journal was written before I had the chance to listen to the actual Challenge of the Yukon MP3's. After that, I had an actual dialogue/vocab template to work from, which affected the sound of the writing.

Quick warning: we do not actually get to Oz until the sgt_preston material. The first stuff, in my own journal, takes place in the UK. So Oz doesn't come into it for a while.
