I ruddy well hate trying to duplicate Hagrid's speech patterns. I don't write out accents if I can possibly avoid them, but Hagrid never once speaks without JKR indicating the accent... beh.
I read almost all of book 5 to G (he read some to me) and found it rather hard to get his accent straight. Most of the time I can hear whatever British or other English accent the writer wants in my head and use that for help with the output, but for whatever reason Hagrid was *hard*.
Stuttering characters are also hard, and JKR uses that a lot too.
It wouldn't be so bad if my mind translated the sounds Robbie Coltrane used into the same letters Rowling writes, but we seem to have disagreements of spelling... oy. Well, I shall have to reread Hagrid's parts for reference.
It's also possible that the actor went for something vaguely similar (or of similar class level) instead of trying to match JKR's writing. They messed with the text enough in other ways when they put it on the screen.
not fun to read aloud either
