Just had a look at khaosworks' latest posting- a bright shiny image showing an aerial photograph of the area in which he lives, determined by latitude and longitude. I did some searching, got my own lat/long measurements, and put them in.

It's a little freaky how many things I can actually recognise from the air. I don't know if it's because I know them well, or because I've spent hours upon hours on disaster jobs playing with mapping software to the point where I can mentally overlay the maps over the landscape, or what. All I know is, I can point to most of the visible landmarks on the map and say what they are without even blinking, down to individual roads.

Those of you on my friends list who might be interested in seeing such a thing let me know. I'm not especially inclined to put the photograph up myself. I did set it to my wallpaper, though.

I emailed a local broadband company a similar photo of Chez Moi to indicate where I was L.O.S. wise for a point to point system. In my madder moments I'm considering using a game scenario editor, that photo and a topographical map of the area to see if my theory about the best place for a machinegun nest and an anti-tank gun is correct :-)

You gotta love technology!
