Dec. 17th, 2003 03:47 pmChrist on a crutch, a few years in the hands of people who think Gator is okay and Date Manager and Precision Time and Weatherbug are harmless can sure leave an amazing amount of crap in a computer's registry. Even if one of 'em does get a clue and install and use Spybot Search and Destroy on a regular basis.

With a club, if you have to.
NB, however, that this is uneccessary under XP, which has an NTP client built in.

Date: 2003-12-18 01:33 pm (UTC)The XP user's login has been set to mere user privileges. He can't install ANYTHING. In fact, one of our volunteers (who nearly always sits next to him in his cube) came up to me yesterday and said that the user couldn't install his AOL.
I took a not-very-nice pleasure in telling her that this was how it was SUPPOSED to be, that I had told the user once not to install AOL, and that if he wanted his AOL mail he could get it through webmail.aol.com like anyone else.
If he tries to install anything else I expect similar howls of frustration, but so what?
