All right, I seem
Nov. 13th, 2003 12:07 pmto be on the right track for getting home. I've made my flight arrangements, and I have to fly out of Los Angeles (yech) on Saturday at 12:08 PM (eight minutes after noon). I'll be checking out of my job on Friday around 2:30, and I don't know if they want me to stay at the same hotel tomorrow night or get a hotel in LA instead.
In the meantime, we have a new candidate for the year's freakiest biology news! Thank you, BBC News Online!
When two became one in the womb
Jane was a puzzle to doctors. She needed a kidney transplant, but her naturally conceived sons could not donate - because they were not biologically related.
Tests eventually showed Jane was a chimera - her mother had been pregnant with non-identical twins who had fused together in the womb to make one person. . .
That is just too freaky for words. There has got to be potential for a fantasy story or something in there somewhere.
