Have been entering customer satisfaction surveys for our First Aid and CPR courses into Excel. Front side of the form asks what course you took, some questions about why you took it, and then your level of satisfaction with various aspects. Back side asks more satisfaction questions and then a bunch of demographic questions incl. race. The race question reads:

You consider yourself to be (FILL ONLY ONE):

- Hispanic or Latino (of any race)
- White
- Black or African American
- Asian
- Native Hawaiian or other Paciric Islander
- American Indian or Alaska Native
- Two or more races
- Other (Which?)

Many people didn't answer that question. That's fine. It's just for demographic purposes. What made me scratch my head a bit was:

- One person checked off 'Other' and wrote "Human" in the blank
- One person scratched out 'White' and wrote 'Caucasian' next to that option
- And one person scratched out 'Black or African American' and wrote "Brother" next to that option.

Like I said, huh.

I'm not white and I'm not caucasian. I'm European American, dammit!

The alternate answers are brought to you by people who're right cranky about that kind of question and the answers provided, obviously -- I don't like it myself, but usually not that much.
