I have currently run into a bit of a roadblock with the final Diary of a Mountie entry. I will resume work on it when I have had it clarified by the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and [livejournal.com profile] cadhla. No sense at all in getting black flagged on the last lap, you know?

I have to say, I've gotten awfully fond of Sergeant Preston. I'm looking forward to gaming again with [livejournal.com profile] cadhla and the gang next week, but more than that I've gotten very fond of writing for the man. Right now he's a fish so far out of water that the Atacama Desert would be a step in the right direction, but he seems the type to land on his feet, and I think it'd be interesting to see him in other situations. The problem is that I did not create this plot, nor did I create 75% of the dialogue. I have done my faithful best to render what I remember from the game session, and with [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon's help I think I have come pretty close. I've constructed dialogue in a few places to fill in blanks that were covered during game-time by 'okay, so you're all going where?' or similar statements. Two scenes were constructed out of whole cloth instead of being from the game proper- the church visit, and the walk in the park with Dorothy. I can't even claim the park scene, really, since that was dialogue worked out after the fact with [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon. We had to figure out what our characters were doing while all the players watched [livejournal.com profile] stakebait work her Wimsey mojo. . .

Thing is, I'm really, really hoping that this coming week's game session happens, and that it's a good one. If it works out I plan to do more Diary entries based on that. Eventually, though, that set of Diary entries will end as well, and then I will be back where I was at the start of this post: with a character in my head, a desire to do more with him, and no clear indication of what form that more ought to take. It is, after all, a game situation, not a comic book one. It's not the sort of thing where you can just ponce off and do a limited series on the side, is it? No matter how tempting it'd be to get Dorothy in on the deal. . .

Meh. Suggestions, anyone? If I ever did come up with separate stories after all this lot was done, would anyone actually be interested in reading 'em?

Well, actually, since there's going to be a time delay between the last session and this one (and you'll probably again wind up in a space where you could take a few weeks or what not after this session), you and Batya probably could plot a mini-series.

I'll let you know when for game as soon as Mer gets back to me.

Well, duh. Hello! *waves*

I think you should write more.

But then, I always think everyone who writes stuff I like should write more. It's cheerfully hypocritical of me, given that I don't write. :P
