camwynDude, that last thunderclap - the one directly overhead - was so huge that it shook my desk. Went on a good long while, too.
Okay, quick lightning safety tip: if you are in a car during a thunderstorm, stay there. At least do so until you're sure the local lightning has passed. If the car gets struck, stay in the car anyway - it's way more insulated than you are, since the tires keep it from completing a circuit with the ground.
