OG FINISH SOCK.
Jul. 15th, 2003 09:03 amOg finish both sock.
That's right, last night as I was on the phone with a friend, I got out my tapestry needle and grafted the last few stitches together. I have officially finished my first pair of socks. They're Bernat (I think) acrylic yarn, worsted weight, in the variegated 'Burning Embers' colour scheme. This translates into mostly brown with some reddish and green bits. I intend to bring them with me to Alaska this September.
My next goal is to finish the Pima silk sweater I've been working on (don't let the name fool you - the yarn is 85% cotton, 15% silk). The body's all done, so all that remains is the cap sleeves and mandarin collar neck, although I can't do the neck until I block. Both the neck and the sleeves have cables in, but since I've already done the exact same cable pattern in the body of the sweater itself, that won't be a problem. After I've finished the sweater, I'm going to try socks again - something in a lace this time, most likely. The new pair will be donated to the homeless or the Jersey Battered Women's Service or something like that; just because a woman is homeless doesn't mean she couldn't use something attractive to wear, and if she's trying to get a decent job she'll need something to wear to the interview, right? Right.
After that I am not sure what will be knitted next. I have some alpaca-based boucle yarn, and a yarn shop near me that's doing a 40% off sale on its discontinued varieties, and a terrible urge from the voices in my head to buy some knitter's graph paper and attempt to copy the dragon pattern from the embroidered panel of my (sadly, ruined) Chinatown purse. I say terrible because I know damn well it's a prelude to 'great, you've finished a new purse, now let's see about KNITTING AN ENTIRE DRAGON ROBE MUAHAHAHAHA'.
