Jun. 26th, 2014 09:05 amGot an appointment with a urologist this afternoon; we'll see what the scans have to say. I need to write up my stone history before I go.
On a related note, during the medical exam the other day the FAA doctor asked me if I had any scars or tattoos. I showed him the only notable ones I had, a line across one knuckle that had bits of street in it and the place where I screwed up with the mandoline in 2012. He said, "Nope, too small," and explained that he was looking for something big enough to identify me in the event of a crash.
I am not currently afraid of crashing, but I'll tell you, that moment was the first time I actively wanted a tattoo. I've discussed the possibility before, mostly back when I worked for the Red Cross- essentially, that if I ever got assigned to a foreign DR operation and was banned from donating blood for a year as a result, I'd want my basic medical information tattooed on my shoulder or back* somewhere and possibly a Red Cross flag on one arm- but I'd never actually really wanted one, let alone seriously contemplated getting one.
We'll see what happens. I'd still rather donate blood than get ink, but you never know.
*If you're somewhere that things get bad enough that you have to be identified by a tattoo, you'd better have it somewhere that can't be blown off.
