Mar. 27th, 2014 10:28 amHad to work late the past two nights. No furniture progress made. May change that tonight; I'm debating whether I want to start on the shellac or get the really smelly stuff out of the way and apply stain to the remaining pieces. The main argument against that is that I don't have room to let everything dry at once unless I approximate the bed being put together. I'll think about it, I've got time.
Made another batch of the chili, though. A little more runny this time, as I had to use up the rest of the beef broth. I think I added proportionately more chocolate, as I had some dark chocolate in my fridge from the chocolate cream sauce experiment and wanted to use that up too. This means half the chocolate was unsweetened 100% cacao unsweetened baking chocolate, and half was a rather nice dark chocolate with something around 65-85% cacao and a bit of sweet to it, so this will probably be a bit more like Baby's First Mole' in taste than the last time. We'll see how it goes. (I didn't eat the chili last night because I got home around 9. I made the chili so the beef wouldn't be sitting in my fridge uncooked another night. I brought some for lunch today, that's all.)
The harbor was absolutely gorgeous when I looked out the office window this morning. It will be nice when things warm up enough that I feel safe taking my kayak out again. I really want to get to a point of being able to paddle out to one of the harbor islands this year, although given the size and importance of Boston Harbor I may have to arrange to do that from somewhere on the Quincy side, like World's End. A boat with less than a foot of draft has no business cutting across major shipping lanes if there's an alternative.
