Nov. 2nd, 2007 09:02 amGnuuuh. Awake.
I was up too late last night, although it was worth it, I think. Ray's Octoberplot is finally over bar the wrap-up behind-the-scenes posts and one that I'm considering arranging with
mephron if I don't do it myself. Walter Peck, giant robots (well, one giant robot, anyway), the Ark of the Covenant, at least a couple of kung fu Nazis, and a cough drop monster. Among other things. It was good, just not conducive to getting to sleep at a reasonable hour. I'd say my nap earlier in the day helped, except that said nap included a side detour to early-onset REM sleep, and the dream that ensued was one of the horrifyingly realistic yet highly implausible ones I have from time to time. All the sensory details were absolutely perfect, even down to the people I saw on the street and the FEEL of the volume of the sounds, it's just that the Concorde no longer flies, so it's not going to be able to crash into an apartment building, and it's sure as heck not going to do so after bobbing its fuselage down between its wings like the dragons in Reign of Fire.
Like I said, realistic detail, implausible content. I sat up afterwards panting for a good five minutes before turning on the lights, cranking up the music, and pulling myself back into the world of the everyday.
I haven't caught the people at Chelsea Bikes yet at a time when the guy who ordered my bike was available. I'll be phoning them a few times today, and if I can't get hold of him I'll at least find out if they have any Kryptonite New York locks in stock. I can get one now and use it while I have Danii's bike on the premises. It'll get me used to the weight.
Gnh. Need coffee.
