Diary update

The next several chapters of Diary of a Mountie are up at the Sergeant Preston fanfiction page on my web site. Four new chapters, though one is very, very short. Lessons Learned, Beggaring Belief, The Calm Before The Storm (the short one), and Since I Left Plumtree Down In Tennessee. Fair warning: that last goes into some fairly nasty material and is probably about PG-13 for disturbing imagery and death.

*sob* One year. One stupid year.

Found a song the other day that I absolutely positively HAD to put in John's mouth at some point during Hellblazer: Hogwarts. But something occurred to me about it, and I looked up the album release date.

1997.

Year of the battle at the Ministry in OotP, according to the Lexicon: 1996.

Given that the song is by Captain Tractor, an obscure Canadian band from the Alberta area, there's no way that John would have access to it during his 1997 time at Hogwarts.

But lord, it's such a good song for him...

For those of y'all who're of the Jewish persuasion, I have a question...

Is there a particular prayer, or formula for a freeform prayer, that would be considered appropriate before the launch of a prototype rocket? I'm working on my original hard SF stuff, and one of the main characters is a largely non-practicing Jew who's about to launch a rocket that's his only real hope of getting a vital scholarship. Ira kind of sees it as a 'no atheists in foxholes' situation.

The launch isn't going to go as planned regardless, but he has no way of knowing that.
