I mean, geez, you'd think World War II was a racial civil war, considering the number of Aryan heroes who wound up pulping Nazis left and right; why not someone like Shaft laying about as a PI in his neighbourhood, only to discover that the criminal element around him was siphoning off money they made by exploiting his people and using it to fund God knows what in Germany?
... look, I was on my way to AC Moore to buy yarn because I'd forgotten to make a Christmas present for my grandpa (who I am seeing tomorrow) and the theme from Shaft came on the radio. And I thought, you know, "Who is the man that would risk his neck for his brother man? Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?" is a pretty good way of summing up a LOT of those guys from the old pulps...
