Here goes nothin'.

Going to the airport tomorrow. 8:15 AM my plane takes off. Got to be at the airport at 6:15. Here's hopin' they don't a) change my flight time overnight ('didn't we tell you? Not enough people on 8 AM plane! Must get on 6 AM plane instead!') or b) reject my knitting needles at security.

If there is a net terminal in the Seattle airport tomorrow I will do my best to let y'all know I'm okay from there. Otherwise it will have to wait until I get to Fairbanks.

Gonna try and sleep now. Not anticipating success. But gonna try.

Currently it is about six PM Alaska time. I am in the College Coffeehouse, near the University of Alaska campus. It's about a ten or fifteen minute walk from Billie's Backpacker's hostel from here. They make good peach smoothies and you get fifteen minutes of Internet free with your drink, so I figured I would let y'all know I have not yet been eaten by a grue.

Billie's is a nice place but they mistakenly thought I was two people, so for tonight I have been lodged in a private room. They are charging me the rate for a bunk, though, and tomorrow they put me in a proper bunk. The place is very nice, very homey; the people are friendly and Hannibal the Pug (yes, the squishy faced dog breed) will follow you around for ages if you give him an Alpo snack or two (I bought a bag for him before I came here).

Tomorrow seems like a good day to go out to the local bird sanctuary and watch the sandhill cranes before they migrate. Possibly/probably also the University museum. Should be cool.
