LXG: Diary of a Mountie, Part Eight

I have taken the liberty of editing the parts that have gone before this, fixing some fairly grievous errors (most notably an NPC's gender) and adding or removing a few items in such places as were appropriate. Dude, that last thunderclap - the one directly overhead - was so huge that it shook my desk. Went on a good long while, too.

Okay, quick lightning safety tip: if you are in a car during a thunderstorm, stay there. At least do so until you're sure the local lightning has passed. If the car gets struck, stay in the car anyway - it's way more insulated than you are, since the tires keep it from completing a circuit with the ground.

Yeesh.

Oh, yeah, about the most recent Diary post-

It has just occurred to me that I didn't make something clear enough. One of the more seemingly inexplicable actions undertaken towards the end of the post actually has precedent. It just got edited in when I went back and made my corrections to the older Sergeant Preston posts. If you find yourself wondering what the reaction is to the events of the last paragraph, please, go back and read the freshly edited earlier Diary entries. It makes more sense that way. I'm really sorry I didn't mention this earlier.
