So. Not. Right.
Oct. 11th, 2002 12:11 amWent into Toronto's Chinatown today. Was very happy to be there. Saw neat stuff. Bought three movies for $25 and they're not ripoff copies or VCD's, they're actual DVDs of movies that I actually wanna see. (The Duel, A Man Called Hero, and Chinese Ghost Story.) Had some trouble communicating with the shop owner ("Yes, I"m an American... No! Not American movies! I'm the- Hong Kong! Show me movies from Hong Kong! ... okay, yes... um... Ekin Cheng, can you show me- okay, thank- oooh, Stephen Chiau... no, I've got that one already...") But in the process I encountered several things that were Just Not Right.
1. Red bean bubble tea. I thought this would be ordinary bubble tea flavoured with red bean paste. No. It is bubble tea with heaps of actual adzuki beans in it. I ran out of liquid so far before I ran out of other stuff that I would have had to finish this tea with a SPOON. Wasn't in the mood for that so I got rid of what was left.

condotierre? Honey? Remember the Shaolin Babies? I've come to the conclusion that they really ARE the equivalent of 'Jesus helps me hit the ball' crossbred with Precious Moments, because today I spotted the Tibetan Lama Babies. Complete with Kamehameha-looking hats, alongside a set of Shaolin Babies. It was just. so. not. right. *shiver* I saw a couple of other figurines of similar-looking kids, including an old married couple with their feet joined by a red thread, and another set that I don't remember right now save that I thought 'there's ANOTHER one with the itty bitty sunglasses!'. I so want to know/don't want to know what's going on with those.
3. The Prosperity Moose.
But for now it is Late, and I am Tired, and tomorrow is probably zoo day. If the weather gets eck, it's shopping day. I had fun; how about you?
