I work with an office full of five-year-olds or something. HOW many times does Mommy have to repeat herself? Every two weeks? "Let me know you're coming." "Don't walk up behind me like that, call out when you're coming up to my door." "Don't sneak up on me like that." "I scare easily when I'm working on the computer. Please let me know you're nearby."

... and meanwhile the samsaric cycle throws me a 'hey, lighten up' reminder as a funeral procession goes past the window, led by a hearse with the top down and the back all full of flowers - I assume no corpse as there is a second hearse, top up, behind it. Crapulation! I didn't even know those things could put the top down!

despite watching more HK action movies in the space of seven months than pretty much anybody should, I did not recognize the sound of Cantonese when I heard it the other day. In fact, I exclaimed "What the hell are they singing in?"

In my defense, the singer was Skeletor. Come and see the Ray Harryhausen tribute!

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] pjammer, for clearing up the mystery. And thank you, [livejournal.com profile] cadhla, for saying they were singing in Skellington. Apparently the Feng Shui rpg is right... everyone, everywhere, in every time frame, speaks Cantonese. Even if they're, you know... Skeletor.

Today's pulp survival tip is #45: Watch out for any room that contains carefully arranged pillars, bookcases, or suits of armor that just happen to be evenly spaced in such a fashion that the top of one could smack into the body of the next.

About a week and a half ago I had the feeling of a piece of VicMage.Asia gamefic floating around in the back of my head, but it refused to come out and play because I couldn't start it off properly. I got to grumbling, whined to [livejournal.com profile] cadhla about it, and eventually went off to do something else. Shortly thereafter I sat down and started banging this piece out, figuring that going at the story from another point of view than I'd initially thought might do me good. And it did, sorta - this character, Lieutenant Deng, was kind enough to give me his impression of the time between the breaking of the Ainu clan called Sun Bear and the Category 4/5 typhoon that blew up shortly after.

Unfortunately, I got interrupted before Deng could get very far with his thoughts, and now I seem to have lost the thread of the feeling. Dammit.

Not my fault. Deng's. Right down to the weird formatting and capitalization/lack thereof. )

Bah. I gotta get back into the feel of this and finish the damn thing.
