But like I said, this isn't for me, this is for one of my characters. Here's the friendtest for Ho.

It's snowing a lot. Big clumpy flakes, all over the place. Looks lovely, falling out of the sky. Trouble is, I know that big flakes mean it's warm in the upper atmosphere. I can only remember one snowstorm ever in my life where big flakes fell for any length of time and didn't give way to rain. I think I was in third grade at the time.

I like it when it snows a lot. I have to drive places and navigate through the snow, and last year snow combined with my driving cost me more than $200 to repair the havoc I wreaked on the front end of my Saturn, but I like snow anyway. I like that everyone has to slow down or risk karma happening to them Real Soon. I like that noises are muffled. I like that there's a trail left everywhere I go - and even better, if it's still snowing, I like that the trail will be swallowed up soon. It's a nice combination of Notice Me and Leave Me Alone, leaving your footprints while the snow is still falling.

The birds are outside my window again, although no one's trying to get in. I think the one I'm seeing is a titmouse - it's either that, or a chickadee with head feathers ruffled up. Brave little birds, chickadees. I like them. Them and goldfinches - I saw two goldfinches at my thistle feeder once, a male and a female, and the male kept pulling out seeds and giving 'em to the female. My father thinks that it's odd to spend money on bird food like that, but he doesn't understand. It's entertainment, and it's a little bit of kindness as well. As far as I'm concerned, the price of thistle seed is worth more than the same amount of money spent on TV-related stuff.

Hm. I think we've got a new one, there's a dark-eyed junco in the tree now, looking around like he's trying to find something specific...

Today's pulp survival tip is #89: Report all animal bites immediately, unless they come from some animal that is biting every member of your party. Being bitten by mosquitoes in the jungle is not reportable. Being bitten once by a weird-looking bug the size of the end of your thumb, is.
