Just saw Bulletproof Monk.
Apr. 21st, 2003 10:13 pmOnly gonna make a handful of non-spoilery comments:
1. If that was New York - hell, if that was ANY city in the United States with the possible exception of Seattle - then I am the governor-general of the province of Manitoba. They didn't even bother hiding the CN Tower on the city skyline! Why bother setting it in America if you're just gonna film it in an obvious Toronto? I'd have happily gone to see a movie set in Toronto.
2. Peter Henry Arnatsiaq, an Inuit who played the antagonist of the movie Atanarjuat, is about two hundred times more Tibetan-looking than Chow Yun-Fat. No offense to Mr. Chow, I mean, he's da Man, but the only reason I could swallow 'Tibetan monk' as a cover story for him was because they did up his hair like paintings I've seen of Marpa. (Very short, fuzzy, and black.)
3. Chow on the roof of a car with two guns in slow motion and his coat and vest billowing around him = THE SINGLE COOLEST THING IN THE WORLD.
To borrow a word coined by Black Mage, I gotta get me some of that monkoplastic action!
