Finished watching Atanarjuat. Found myself thinking at several intervals that the music sounded awfully like Tuvan throat singing.
It was Tuvan throat singing. As a matter of fact, it was Tuvan throat singing from a group I'd heard before and actually recognized - Huun-Huur-Tu. I own a CD called Tuva: Voices From The Center of Asia. One of their singers performs on some of the tracks.
This is more disturbing than the time I recognized a humpback whale song. No, seriously, I was on a whale watching trip off Cape May and the ship captain had a CD of whale song on - and I realized after a few phrases of the singing that I knew that sound, and that he was using the same CD that I owned.
