camwyn | I seem to have acquired a new nickname.

One of my co-workers is probably the second most tech-savvy person in this office - well, outside of the Braille bindery, where the tech that matters is stuff entirely outside my realm of experience or even knowledge. Mike knows just enough about computers and electronica to know when to back off and call for someone else and when to go ahead and make the changes and alterations himself, which is a hell of a lot more than most people here. Add in the fact that his changes and alterations generally work, and that when he asks questions they're about the stuff he actually did or that needs changing, and he's light-years ahead of the others. (When they ask questions like 'It says do you want to replace... something..., should I do it every time or should I come back and ask you the next time it asks?', they're not even trying.)

Anyway, I have apparently earned enough of a reputation for bringing Mike's computer (an XP system) to heel on request that he has taken to calling me Commander. God only knows why. I don't wear suits enough any more to look like I have a uniform, and I haven't worn the shirts with patches all over them in a while... I'm not objecting. I mean, James Bond's rank in the Royal Navy was commander, so it's cool. It's just a little odd, that's all. I haven't had a nickname assigned from outside in ages. (I'm not counting Og, I started the use of that one myself.)
