In the show, she is sixteen when she is married off to Khal Drogo, a horse-lord barbarian played by Jason Momoa. When she gets pregnant, since she's supposed to be his queen, she has to undertake the stallion heart ceremony. They make their khaleesis- their queens- eat a freshly slaughtered stallion heart, raw, and interpret how much she can consume and keep down as an omen for the pregnancy.
Go back and look at those stats I gave for the weight of a horse's heart. Remember that a Starbucks Trenta size contains thirty fluid ounces and takes up more space than the volume of an actual human stomach. Look at the x-rays of the burger eating guy, and then tell me please whether George R. R. Martin had any idea of the internal layout of a human being when he came up with this ceremony. The gummy candy 'heart' they had Ms. Clark eat when they filmed that episode of the show was the size of her *face* but I didn't realize until I saw those X-rays just how impossible the scene really was.
