I have grown enough fingernail on my index finger to use it for the beginning few rotations of a particularly persnickety flathead screw on my sewing machine. thank you, nail polish, or discouraging my usual habits.

I am not going to stop painting my nails, though. This does not mean I broke the habit of biting them. I just have no desire to put polished-and-topcoated nails between my teeth. Too thick, weird texture. The instant the polish is off biting is fair game so far as my brain is concerned.
