My bike route takes me past a lot of houses with pride flags and HATE HAS NO HOME HERE flags out front.

It... also takes me past a lot of houses with TRUMP 2024 and Thin Blue Line flags. And parking lots with vans that have TRUMP 2024 - TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK bumper stickers. And STOLEN ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES stickers.

I'm sorry. I never wanted to do this, but I'm signing up for the Massachusetts firearms safety course necessary to get a gun license in this state. I've checked the other requirements for a license, and I have two personal non-related non-resident-at-my-address references lined up. I'll be taking an online course for concealed carry permit good in multiple states, too. There's a decently priced safe and a decently priced handgun at Cabela's; the one I'm looking at is recommended for competition target shooters as well as personal defense, so it's at least got the possibility of sport use if I can find an appropriate range. (I did archery for years in NJ. Sport shooting is remarkably good at focusing the mind.)

I don't trust my neighbors not to turn on my other neighbors, or by extension, me.
