So I tried to save money on curtains and it didn't quite go as planned

I bought a pair of Wontex thermal/sound dampening curtain panels recently, but made the mistake of choosing the 'save! get the open box version!' option- I assumed that someone returned a pair of panels for being the wrong color. Nope. The curtains I got were the outer layer only, no sign of the heavy black inner layer that does a lot of the insulating and noise dampening. I wound up ordering a pair of new curtains instead of trying to figure out how to replace that inner layer, but now I have two pieces of 53"x84" beige polyester velour (I think? It's polyester fiber and it's thick, soft, and fuzzy, and I know they make sound dampening curtains out of velour). I paid $14 for the set. Minus the few inches at the top that're taken up by the grommets, I figure that's a pretty good bargain for fabric if I can figure out a good way to make use of it. Anybody have any suggestions, other than using a small amount off the bottom to make draft blockers for my apartment doors and windows now that the temperatures are starting to drop?

Some kind of throw blanket, maybe, if you like the feel of it against your skin? I don't know that beige polyester velour would be my personal pick for decoration, but it could be the underside of something with a more decorative but less warm top layer.

Would it be feasible to use as the back piece for a cushion with a quilted front panel, you think? I'm currently trying to do an eighteen-inch cushion front (trying being the operative word) and was going to use some linen I had left over from a pants project, but the linen could probably be used for something else...

I don't see why not! I've got a couple of small cushions my grandmother made, with an embroidered front and velour back, and it works well and makes for a nicely soft-feeling cushion back.

Alternatively, I've occasionally wanted a cloak just for the sake of having a cloak. Online Fabric Store has a tutorial, and the fabric they recommend as a lining is $3 a yard or less....

Oooooh, yeah, there's a lot to be said for a swoopy cloak with velour involved.
