Same here. The car was relatively new when it happened to me - this was 1988 - and Dad wasn't used to the power door locks yet. He forgot that he could unlock the door by turning the key in the driver's side door, so he had to run around the car, open the front door, and open the back door lock from the front door. I also lost the thumbnail and had to sleep with my hand elevated above my head to make the throbbing stop. There are videotapes of my eighth grade graduation from St. Patrick's RC School taken from the back of the church that show the priests handing me my diploma and leaning over to ask me something, because they've seen my left hand. You can't hear anything they say; all you can hear is a sudden 'hsssssss' from both of them.
For some reason, starting as early as a week after the fact, I found that very, very amusing.
