I don't seem to have a tag from the last time I posted this, but I have a new entry for my extremely irregular feature, "Phrases That Never Mean Anything Good When They Appear In An Obituary". if you, like me, can't find the post where I originally listed these, I'll just start with the classic:

"while cleaning his gun"

(TBH I got that one from a radio station; the DJ started reading off the text of an article, then stopped and said, "You know, that never means anything good in an article, right? I mean, have you ever heard anyone say "While cleaning his gun... he found out he'd won the lottery!"?")

Previous entrants to the list also include:

"with a nail gun"
"scattered across five counties"
"crammed into their freezer"

And today I'd like to add the following phrase:

"into a wood chipper"

derien: It's a cup of tea and a white mouse. The mouse is offering to buy Arthur's brain and replace it with a simple computer. (Default)

If it's a phrase that must begin the sentence it produces a poetic effect:

Into a wood chipper her husband was found to have been fed.

Also the sort of sentence our English teacher warned us about. ;)
