I made another Amazon sale today. I sold one of my textbooks to someone who already had a 'Dr.' in front of his name. Don't people with doctorates get paid enough to buy their books at the campus bookstore, or reimbursed by their companies as an expense of doing business?

I'm not arguing, though, that's $35 I didn't have before...

'scuse me. Gotta go make a doctor's appointment. My throat feels marginally better but I still sound like Miles Davis.

You only get free textbooks if you are either a professor at a college/university and the company in question wants you to use their book in a course, ie preview freebie, or you are a professor at a college/university and you are teaching a course using the textbook in question. If you consider buying textbooks using grant money to be free, then that is the only other way to get a free textbook.

And a doctorate does not guarantee money. In fact, a PhD won't even keep you warm in the winter. The paper burns too fast.
