Administrative foo-foo.
Dec. 9th, 2002 11:01 amGot a letter from Kean on Saturday stating that the MSMIS program had no proof I had ever taken an undergraduate accounting course, and that this violated the terms of my conditional admission to the program. This is utter BS, as I took the Accounting course at CCM very early on. I called the program and asked what they needed; they want an official transcript. That's a printed form and a $2 fee from CCM. I figure for $6 I can have CCM send one copy to the program coordinator, one to the graduate admissions office, and one to me.
Ordinarily I'd be peeved at this and want to know why these people couldn't keep track of something that had been done so long ago, but for some reason I'm not angry. I mean, most of the time I'd blow my stack if I got accused of not meeting admissions standards one semester before I finished the degree program, but in this case? Meh. I think I'm going to ask to take half a day off so I can go to CCM and ask for the transcripts in person. No sense relying on the Postal Service any more than necessary during the Christmas rush. The sooner I go, the sooner I can see my old transcript and endsure that there's not some weird mistake on there, like switching Accounting 101 for, I dunno, Arabic 428 or something. I need to go to the bank anyway. And on the bright side I might actually be able to find a parking space at Kean this afternoon when I go for my last Monday class of the semester. Yay me.
We'll see what happens. I don't know why this didn't come up before, and I don't want it to count against me, but there's no point getting steamed if I can work this out with $6 and a little driving.
Ah, my boss says half a day is fine, esp. since she's going to be out of the office at a meeting. Huzzah. CCM and the bank, then some lunch and a trip home to get started on laundry before Kean class starts. I need to wash my karate uniform before class tonight.
TOday's pulp survival tip is #69. Do not let anyone know you play a musical instrument unless you want to wind up being forced to do it to prevent the Evil Villain from killing somebody or the Supernatural Menace from running amok.
