TIL that I was wrong in thinking that dentists practiced the early stages of their training on cadaver heads, the way MDs start off dissecting full cadavers. Instead they have devices that simulate human heads with full oral cavities to work on. These devices are called 'dental phantoms' or 'dental phantom heads'.


Oh, wait. Only the oral cavity is fully simulated. The rest of the head generally looks kinda melty, like someone started trying to copy the face on Annie the CPR manikin and then went "eh.... nah, I'm done."

those were no where near as bad as I was expecting them to be, however, these are my first two thoughts:
