camwynCanceled my original phone and internet service yesterday as I am now using the local cable company. My original provider wasn't bad, but they only offer DSL to my address, and I've been using internet connectivity all day for work from home since March.
It occurred to me that since I use my cell phone for 99% of calls anyway, I can get rid of my old phone- I never liked it anyway, it was just the simplest one the Best Buy had at the time, and the cheapest. The old phone was only ever the target of spam callers, Gamestop, and the town emergency services system. My town has gone over to a different emergency services system that includes SMS and email notification, I no longer buy from Gamestop, and, well, yeah. I really only need the phone now for 911 calls.
(I've made exactly one 911 call in my life. It was from a cellular phone, for someone on a street corner who turned out not to need an ambulance after all. But they still advise you make 911 calls from a land line where possible to avoid issues with cell towers and the like, so.)
I'm going to get a corded phone with caller ID. Not like I'm going to be wandering around the house with the damn thing.
