Is it bad to take comfort and find perspective in the fact that, if the cosmologists are correct, the time of iron stars, the Black Hole Era, and the Dark Era will be so much longer than anything we have ever been able to project in terms of the length of our own Stelliferous Era that the number of years involved requires multiple exponent levels? There's just something that lifts the weight off when looking at how very, very long the universe will one day be incomprehensibly cold and dark before the final ending, or the quantum tunneling event of utter randomization giving rise to something else entirely.


... in related news, I should probably mention that after some discussion with a friend of mine some time ago, I came to the conclusion that my preferred supervillain name would almost certainly be Dr. Eschaton.
